despite mentally feeling better, I coughed quite a lot today and my throat feels like it's going to give out. My mother actually sounds angry at me, with her screaming at me telling me she's going to take me to the 'nurse practitioner'  or whatever the hell it is at Wallgreens.

personally, i think the doctor people at Wallgreens are a little hoaky. Does anyone else share those sentiments?

but anyway, today I tea stained a piece of art. It was like..therapeutic (especially after taking a mentally taxing chemistry test) . There is nothing more relaxing than throwing some average lipton tea at paper, seriously. I'll post the finished piece when I can, it still needs MORE TEA.

furthermore, I'm having issues drawing a self portrait for my next project. Eghhhh I'm only good at drawing OTHER people, not my ugly mug.

I've felt really unmotivated lately..I think it may just be a result of my classes not giving me almost no homework though (not that I'm complaining). I think I'm just becoming lazy. Although, I really don't like being unmotivated. I like being busy (especially with doing things I enjoy) . I  was kind of hoping my commissions would be at least a little more successful to at least get me working (and some cash in my pocket) but I suppose I should have seen that coming.

I've also been having a lot of strange and distressing dreams lately and haven't been sleeping well, so that may be contributing to things too. Yet, I'm forgetting the dreams more quickly than I used to and only can remember the general gist of them and how much they startled me. I wonder if there's a trend in something I do before I sleep that are causing these that I can prevent.

I began reading the memoir Lucky by Alice Sebold today. It's...depressing. Again, this may contribute to the motivation-less self. I've noticed that I tend to gravitate towards books that have at least some sort of sexual issue that has terribly disturbing or sad consquences
like Speak or The Kite Runner. I think it's because that the thought of myself being in those kind of situations is utterly terrifying and it helps me get into the books more. Am I a masochist? perhaps.

For some reason I also began reminsicing about a friend of mine (who's still a friend of mine today) who's done so much for me. I think it may because of Alice's friend in Lucky..who knows. It just made me realize how gratful I am for her, and how many issues (both big and small)  we've been through that have caused tension and even distress. Although, here we are today. I'm still terribly surprised that she's been able to tolerate me for so long, the poor dear, I beat up on her so much in middle school!

It feels like I have so much on the brain right now...to-do lists and random thoughts like some of those mentioned above. I'm really not quite sure to make of all of it, whether it's just some bizarre slump or what. I think if I may a list I'll be able to organize myself more.

1. Meghan, in debate on Wednesday you have to create a speech opposing Proposition Eight. You have an idea of what you're doing but it's not enough. Do more research and organize your outline more and practice in front of a mirror. Don't get shaky, this is a topic you feel strongly about and you'll be able to present yourself strongly
2. do that lab for chemistry, it's worth a lot of points (even if it's just watching water boil)
3. Read more of Lucky, but try to balance it out with Eyeshield 21. Seeing who wins the game is important too!
4. In a little over a week your presentation on The Bends is due. You still need to think of a creative way to present it. Perhaps fish out some fins and a snorkel? You also need to finish that
5. Try to work (and get the others) to work on SWITCH more. You know if everyone is motivated enough it's something that could be completed in a week.
6. Figure out your IP group, even if you don't want to think about it.
7. TRY to draw, your soul will die if you don't
8. wear your pajamas inside out. you want a snow day.
oh, and flush some ice down the toilet, too.

Well, it actually was a really big coincidence and a twist of fate, really.

So, as most of you know, every Tuesday night I go to petsmart to volunteer (I clean out cat cages/socialize/play with them). However, this Tuesday one of the employees had already well...cleaned everything, and I had absolutely nothing to do.

I could have gone home, but because I have no life I decided to chill and play with them for an hour or and a half (better than being locked up in a cage, amirite?).

Two women walked in during the last twenty minutes of me being there. I took out a cat for them to play with and we began to talk. She happened to be wearing a "The Nightmare Before Christmas" jacket which I commented on, and soon we began talking about the somewhat-new release of the special edition DVD. We both also happened to be wearing extremely similar class rings.

"What school did you go to?"

"I graduated from -INSERT HIGHSCHOOL NAME HERE- in 2004."

NEEDLESS TO SAY, it is the school I am attending now...but you see, it gets even weirder. We both had the same name.

and both liked anime.
and we were both planning on attending the Anime Convention in February.

It's worth pointing out that if I had chosen to leave early, I wouldn't have met this person. So yes..a not incredibly strange encounter, but it was very interesting and I'm glad I had met her.

Am I posting for the sake of posting? Possibly, likely.

School has started up again after a very nice and uneventful winter break. I think this may be a reasonably easy semester, even if I'm taking a class that I'm probably going to feel really uncomfortable in.

Non-Competitive Debate, anyone?

I only took it because I had to switch my schedual around immensely (only because I didn't want this godawful math teacher). Although, my only real problem is that I suck so hard at getting up and actually talking in front of people. On the bright side though,  maybe this class will help me get over it.

I'm also taking something similar to a required health class all over again. So far, we've had a guy pull up his shirt to show us a bullet wound scar and made covers for our binders and the like (oh my). We really have a wide range of people in that class, I think it's going to be fun.

Other than that...My recent art project wasn't accepted by the teacher (egh, starting out with a late project grade for the semester. not cool) so who knows what I'll be getting on that. I'm also really iffy about the project we just now started (involving showing motion..with an abstract style?). 

AND speaking of art...it feels like I've run into some sort of rut. Drawing seems like such a chore right now but I want to do it and enjoy it so badly, it hurts.  Gaaahhhh, dammit.
